Day Camp Counsellor

The Day Camp Counsellor will play a crucial role in overseeing and assisting with the operations of our summer camp program. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing and coordinating various aspects of a summer camp, while ensuring the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of campers. The camp counsellor will work closely with camp staff, campers, and parents to create a positive and engaging camp environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in planning and organizing daily camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and field trips.

  2. Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during all camp activities, including arrival and departure times.

  3. Support camp staff in implementing camp policies, procedures, and rules to maintain a safe and inclusive environment.

  4. Foster positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.

  5. Collaborate with camp staff to create and maintain a daily schedule that balances structured activities and free play.

  6. Assist in the preparation and distribution of camp materials, such as schedules, permission slips, and activity supplies.

  7. Help maintain accurate attendance records and assist with camper check-in and check-out processes.

  8. Support camp staff in organizing and leading team-building exercises and group activities.

  9. Provide guidance and support to campers in resolving conflicts and promoting positive social interactions.

  10. Assist with the setup, cleanup, and maintenance of camp facilities and equipment. Attend staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to camp operators

TRAINING/SUPERVISION PLAN:

The Day Camp counsellor will receive hands-on job training for several weeks prior to the start of the camp. The day camp counsellors will work side-by side with the Children's Pastor (supervisor) as well as the Program Coordinator learning how to run/plan the camp. The camp director will show plans from previous years as examples of how to prepare for the current camp. They will get a master list of each task to be accomplished in the planning and preparation of the camp.

The camp counsellor will receive training on how to supervise day camp registrants, and deal with parents and children, manage the daily attendance records, manage the budget. The day camp counsellors encouraged to be vocal with any ideas and suggestions for the camp to both the Children's Pastor and the Day Camp Coordinator.

Organize and execute the following things:

Day camp counsellors will lead the children in each of their activities throughout the day and help purchase supplies or each activity, event and snack.

Maintain the well-being of the campers (safety, mental health, first aid Administrative duties such as maintaining daily attendance records, registration of campers, name tags)

Attend day camp training/leadership meetings responsible for set up and clean up each day.

Will assist the coordinator in team training events. The Children's Pastor will mentor the student in both one-on-one and team meetings - on a weekly basis.

They will use their professional experience as a past Program Coordinator to guide them through the process of learning how to be a camp counsellor, how to effectively lead children, how to effectively lead camp activities.

They will show the student the necessary support skills in order to help run the day camp, and use these skills to enter the labour market in the future. The Mentor and Mentee will have both accomplishments.

Discipleship Pastor

Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000

Position Summary Movement Church is seeking a passionate and spiritually mature Discipleship Pastor to lead the development and implementation of a clear, intentional pathway that helps people grow in their faith from casual spectators to fully committed followers of Jesus Christ. This role will champion spiritual formation, leadership development, and prayer ministry while equipping individuals and small groups to live out the mission of the church. 

Key Responsibilities Discipleship Strategy & Spiritual Formation 

• Develop and oversee a comprehensive discipleship pathway that guides individuals from initial interest in faith to mature, active discipleship. 

• Create systems that help people take next steps in their spiritual growth. 

• Provide pastoral care and spiritual coaching to individuals at various stages of faith. 

Teaching & Training 

• Regularly teach Bible studies and discipleship classes for adults. 

• Design and implement a leadership development course to equip and mentor emerging leaders. 

• Train and resource small group leaders to effectively disciple others. 

Prayer Ministry 

• Establish and lead a vibrant, church-wide prayer ministry. 

• Recruit, train, and oversee prayer team volunteers. 

• Integrate prayer into the discipleship process and church culture. 

Assimilation & Follow-Up 

• Develop a consistent follow-up process for individuals who make decisions to follow Jesus. 

• Provide spiritual guidance and next-step pathways for new believers. 

Ordinances & Milestones 

• Oversee and coordinate water baptisms, baby blessings, and other key spiritual milestones. 

• Ensure these experiences are meaningful, well-organized, and aligned with church vision. 

Small Groups Leadership 

• Provide vision, structure, and oversight for the church’s small group ministry. 

• Recruit, train, and support group leaders. 

• Ensure small groups are central to discipleship and community building. 

Qualifications 

• A growing, vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 

• Strong alignment with the mission, values, and theology of Movement Church. 

• Experience in discipleship, teaching, leadership development, or pastoral ministry. 

• Strong organizational, relational, and communication skills. 

• Demonstrated ability to build teams and develop leaders. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field. 

• At least 5 years of ministry experience in a church or ministry setting. 

• Formal theological or ministry training beyond a bachelor’s degree is an asset. 

• Experience leading small groups and prayer ministries.

• A structured and sustainable follow-up system is in place for new believers. 

• A healthy, active prayer ministry is launched and supported by trained volunteers. 

• Leadership training cohorts are running and developing new leaders within the church. 

• Baptisms, baby blessings, and discipleship milestones are organized, meaningful, and well attended. 

• Clear systems, teams, and leaders are in place to sustain and grow the discipleship culture.
